MAYDAY CRM Training Concept
MAYDAY CRM Training Concept is an interactive training tool for classroom training. It integrates CRM Training with Assessment of Non-Technical Skills and Threat and Error Management in an innovative board game.
The players are trained in their Non-Technical Skills, such as Communication, Leadership, Teamwork, Situational Awareness and Decision Making and at the same time the CRM trainer can monitor and assess the performance and provide effective feedback from the training sessions by using the build-in CRM Assessment Tool.
MAYDAY CRM Training Concept was created to enhance teamwork within the crew. The game uses Threat and Error Management, which was introduced by EASA to enhance the understanding of the different environments on board an aircraft.
We believe in effective communication as a way to improve and enhance the understanding of crew resource management in all phases of flight. The game facilitates group discussions and decision-making by active interaction. Operational decisions are moved to a non-operational environment in a fun, innovative, and interactive manner.
The consequences of your decisions are displayed on the game board in terms of RISK, INCONVENIENCE, and the DIRTY DOZEN. At the same time, the game centres on Standard Operating Procedures – SOP.
This game is dynamic, which means that your decisions will affect the outcome of the game. Some events will for some groups, depending on their decisions, escalate into critical events, whereas other groups will avert an escalation due to a different approach to the same problem.
At the end of the game, you can use various decision-making tools such as DODAR, FORDEC, GRADE, PIOSEE or whatever tool you use in your company, to enhance training of effective decision-making. Training in effective communication is integrated by using NITS briefings as an in-game tool.
